Dae Jo Young - Episode 115 - The truth is finally out!

Saturday, January 19th, 2008

It has definitely taken a while but the truth is finally out!

The truth has been leaking over the last several episodes but first Li Geom finds out that he is Dae Jo Young’s son, then Dae JungSang, then Heuk Sudol and finally, Dae Jo Young and his wife, Sukyoung, who was eavesdropping!!

Of course, it ends there with Chulin finally revealing and blurting out the truth to Dae Jo Young.

How did it get to this point? The following is a summary of approximately Episode 110 to 115.

First Li Kaigu attacks DJY’s Ansi fort. Xue Rengui had prodded them to do so. Meanwhile Xue Rengui teams up with the Turks led by Mucho and has them attack Youngzhou while Li Kaigu was away.

When Li Kaigu hears this, he quickly turns around to go home and fight for his country.

But DJY is no longer a mister nice guy. I love this! He decides to go after Li Kaigu. Hey, Li Kaigu cannot come and go as he pleases.

So they ambushed Li Kaigu. DJY fights him and injured him significantly.

Ugly face Shin Hong rescues his master but the damage is done. They are trapped between a rock and a hard place.

Yingzhou falls to the Turks but not before Dae Jung Sang, Gulsabiwu and Geumlan rescues the refugees stuck in Yingzhou and picked up Chulin, Geum and their Khitan citizens along the way.

They tracked back to Ansi fort. Gulsabiwu confronted Chulin one night and threatened to reveal the truth. Chulin threatens him back….though I don’t know what exactly she could do if he reveals the truth.

Dae Jung Sang had saw both of them going into the woods and had followed. He hears the truth.

But he tells Gulsabiwu to shut up and that he, should be the one to tell DJY.

Meanwhile, Li Kaigu, though injured, recovers a little and orders his army to start going back to Yingzhou. As they were on their way, they learn that the Tang army is coming for them.

They found an abandoned fort located in the outskirts of Liaodong (DJY’s territory) and made it theirs.

The Tang army, led by Xue Rengui and Li Wen fights them but couldn’t beat them.

Meanwhile, Li Geom had found out that his father, Li Kaigu, was still alive and leaves Ansi fort to join him.

Mucho and his gang shows up, much to Xue Rengui and Li Wen’s chagrin. They brought the Khitan prisoners they had capture, including the Khitan king, Sun Wanrong.

Sun Wanrong manages to find a Turk soldier who is a Khitan and sends him with a message to Chulin at Ansi fort.

They captured the suspicious messenger at Ansi fort, and this is where Heuk Sudol finds out the truth. He read the letter and confronts Gulsabiwu.

Gulsabiwu takes the letter to Chulin.

Chulin has a decision to make - to tell the truth to Dae Jo Young who is the only person who can fight the Turks and Tang and save her son OR to keep the secret and possibly have her son and husband killed.

She makes her decision….

She meets up with Dae Jo Young in the night. Sukyoung, Dae Jo Young’s wife, hears that Chulin is meeting with Dae Jo Young and follows them. She can somehow hear their conversation even though she appears to be quite far away ;)

Chulin begs Dae Jo Young to save her son and when he refused, she had no other choice. She reveals the truth and that’s where Episode 115 ends.

to be continued……..

Dae Jo Young programming change

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Yesterday, while watching Dae Jo Young, a notice came scrolling across the bottom of the screen.

Dae Jo Young will only be shown on Mondays and Tuesdays starting Dec 10th, 2007. What?! Why?!

No reason was given and no replacement series was annouced either.

So I went to the AZN site and there was a poster that said “36 new episodes added to the popular series” and that Dae Jo Young will be shown only on Mondays and Tuesdays starting next week.

I prodded the site a bit more and found that a series called “Love Truly” will be shown on Wed, Thurs and Friday starting next week…I think. AZN’s site is not very reliable so we’ll have to see what happens next week.

With 36 more episodes of Dae Jo Young and only shown twice a week, it’ll take another 18 weeks to complete the series!

argh….just when you think you’ll finally see some closure, it’s going to take another 4.5 months to know what happens in the end.

Dae Jo Young Episode 96

Summary of Episode 96:

So the evil Shin Hong’s plan was to kill Dae Jo Young.

Dae Jo Young was passed out from drinking but Mimosa had the intuition that something was going on and he send Gulsabiwu and gang. They managed to prevent the assassins from killing Dae Jo Young.

Meanwhile Xue Rengui, Li Wen and gang are begging for mercy from the Emperor Wu Zetian. She refuses to see them even though they had been kneeling for 2 days.

She eventually agrees to see Xue Rengui who tells her that he knows how to beat Dae Jo Young and Li Kaigu. Divide and conquer! Make Dae Jo Young and Li Kaigu turn against each other.

While the Khitans have claimed Yingzhou for themselves and crowned their own king, Dae Jo Young had declared a new state yet.

Xue Rengui asked the Emperor to acknowledge Dae Jung Sang (seniority comes first) as a new leader. By doing so, the Khitans will probably be outraged as the Emperor has not acknowledged them yet.

This episode ended with the Emperor’s envoy visiting Dae Jung Sang and Dae Jo Young with the news and Dae Jo Young is about to kill the messenger.

Dae Jo Young Episode 95

Summary of Episode 94

Xue Rengui, Li Wen and the rest of the Tang generals fell for Dae Jo Young’s trick. They believed that Dae Jo Young and his men have retreated into Yingzhou’s fort.

So they attacked Yingzhou.

Little did they know that Dae Jo Young had Gulsabiwu, Geumlan, Heuk Sudol, Gaepilsamun all stationed at various points.

The Tang was surrounded and defeated.

Li Wen and Hong Pei begged Xue Rengui to disguise himself as a Khitan soldier so that he can escape. After much anguish, Xue Rengui reluctantly agreed.

As they made their escape through the mountains, they were attacked by Dae Jo Young who had foreseen that this was their only escape route.

Xue Rengui, Hong Pei, Li Wen, etc. then pretended to be dead.

Dae Jo Young instructed all his men to look through the bodies to make sure that Xue Rengui was dead. His father, Dae Jung Sang, eventually found Xue Rengui among the bodies.

Xue Rengui asked Dae Jung Sang to kill him and that he’d gladly die in the hands of Dae Jung Sang, a great warrior.

But Dae Jung Sang let him go!

While they celebrated their victory, Dae Jo Young and Mimosa asked that the Goguryeo refugees be released which was why they helped the Khitans in the first place.

Li Kaigu and his sidekick Shin Hong tried to prevent them from doing so, stating one lame excuse after another.

But the Khitan king overuled them and said that Dae Jo Young will have the refugees as promised.

Li Kaigu was furious. Shin Hong is planning some dirty trick again, which has yet to be revealed.

The king and Dae Jo Young got wasted and Geom and Dae Jo Young’s son was called to help him to his bed.

As they made their way to the guest palace, Dae Jo Young stumbled and Geom was there to catch him. So Geom and Dae Jo Young are in “each other’s arms” when Chulin walked out and saw them.

She strikes her “anxious” pose (hehee, she always look anxious, her one look) and it ended there.

If you’ve not been following this series, Geom is actually Chulin and Dae Jo Young’s son. Nobody knows this except Chulin, Li Kaigu and Gulsabiwu who was somewhere sworn to secrecy.
